WHAT IS THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
The Knights of Columbus is a service oriented organization of Catholic men who join together in fraternal religious, charitable, and community activities, The 1.5 million member organization is international in scope, but the major emphasis is focused on activities of the individual council.
Sacred Heart Council #2577 was established on June 21, 1925 and has grown to a membership of almost 1,000 Catholic men. The major thrust of our activities is directed at involving the entire council family in service related activities.
WHAT DOES SACRED HEART COUNCIL DO?
The Council operated within five major areas: assistance to the Church and our own five parishes, service to the Bowie, Crofton community, youth activities, family events and social affairs.
Our Knights are also involved in special events throughout the year, such as the Tootsie Roll Fund Drive.
HOW OFTEN DOES THE COUNCIL MEET?
The council meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. The meetings begin at 8:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Council Hall on Columbian Way in Bowie, Maryland. After the meeting there is a fellowship time with refreshments.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR MEMBERSHIP
Any practicing Catholic man 18 years of age or older may apply for membership in the Knights of Columbus.
